How Do I Use the Navigation System in My 2019 Toyota Tacoma?

If you're behind the wheel of the latest in our automaker's long line of mid-size pickups, then you might have sprung for the infotainment system with all the bells and whistles, Entune™ Premium Audio. You might have done it, too, having heard great things about the navigation system. They're true. Not only is it an exceptional technology suite; it's also easy to use. And, here at Toyota World of Newton, we've made it even easier. Just follow these simple steps to make the most of your Toyota navigation system.

First of all, it's a good idea to get a feel for the scope of what Entune with navigation does. With it, you can register your home address, search by address, input destinations (including your favorite points of interest), set destinations as presets, manage your address book, set areas to avoid, and search from among several categories to find what you're looking for.

To register your home address:

  1. Press the "APPS" button on your Entune system's faceplate
  2. Touch the "Navigation" option
  3. Press "Dest"
  4. Tap "Go Home"

The system will prompt you to set your home destination.

  1. Touch "Yes."
  2. Press "Address" (for security reasons, if you prefer, use a point close to your home address instead of your actual one)

You can start your address input in one of two ways -- choosing "City" or "Street Address." Whichever you choose, you'll begin with; the other request for input will follow, and will display as follows. To go with "City," for example:

  1. Press "City"
  2. Input your city's name and tap "OK"
  3. Select your desired city name
  4. Input your street name and press "OK"
  5. Select your desired street name
  6. Enter a house number (whether it's yours or one nearby) and "press OK"
  7. Hit "Enter"
  8. Tap "Edit" next to any fields you need to modify, like Name or Phone #, and then tap "OK" to save

If you'd like to search by address:

  1. Press "APPS" on your Entune faceplate
  2. Press "Navigation"
  3. Touch "Dest" and then press "Address" (make sure you're in the correct state while searching)

You can begin an address search by either "City" or "Street Address." We recommend starting with "City." To do so:

  1. Tap "City"
  2. Input a city name and a list of city options will appear
  3. Select the city name you're looking for
  4. Put in the street name and a list of options will appear
  5. Select your desired street name
  6. Enter the address number and touch OK
  7. Press "GO" to navigate to set the destination
  8. Tap "OK" to begin guidance

To input destinations:

  1. Press "APPS" on your infotainment system's faceplate
  2. Tap "Navigation"
  3. Touch "Dest"
  4. Press "Point of Interest"

Select the search method you prefer: Name, Category, or Phone #. It might be easiest to search by Name. To do so:

  1. Tap "Name"
  2. Enter your POI's name into the search box and press "OK" (If it isn't listed in the database, check spelling and search area for accuracy. If you still can't find it, try using Destination Search via Entune App Suite)
  3. Select the POI you're looking for from the list
  4. Tap "Go"
  5. Touch the "OK" prompt to start guidance

If you need to search for a destination from categories:

  1. Tap the "APPS" button on the infotainment faceplate
  2. Choose "Navigation"
  3. Press "Dest"
  4. Tap "Point of Interest"
  5. Press "Category"

Set your desired search area, either:

  • Near here
  • Along my route
  • Near a City Center in, or
  • Near a destination

Then:

  1. Select your desired POI category (Many options will display on-screen. Some have subcategories that you'll have to select before choosing a POI. For example, tap "Dining," and you will have to select a cuisine type. Just follow the prompts -- they're highly intuitive!)
  2. Choose your preferred POI from the list
  3. Tap "Go" and then press "OK" to start guidance
